Reply to a Negative Review About a Comedy Act
A Lancashire comedy order accept issued a lengthy and sharp rebuttal to an audience member subsequently he left a negative online review.
The Comedy Station One-act Club situated behind the iconic Blackpool Tower hosted Mick Ferry, Dan Nightingale and Richard Massara on their weekly stand up upward prove Friday Laughs on August 28.
One-act Station recently reopened after six months in lockdown showing off a make new refurbishment.
Simply some punters were not impressed by what the Comedy Station, a premier club in Blackpool since 2002, were offer up.
Audition member Michael Day took to Google to mail service a scathing one-star review of the Comedy Station after attending the Friday Laugh.
Here is what he had to say: "Took my other half out for a appointment. This identify nearly ruined it.
"Crammed in. Grubby. Social distancing non existent. Comedians just took the Michael out of the oversupply. No bodily jokes told.
"Walked out halfway through. Sorry comedy gild only you need to respect your audition. We aren't thick."
Comedy is subjective and information technology seems that Michael was not a fan of audience interaction at the One-act Station and even walked out halfway through the ready.
Simply the Comedy Station were not going to accept Michael'southward annotate lying downwards, with the owner posted a rather lengthy response to his one-star review today (September 1).
Information technology began: "Hello, again, Michael, as you've left this same review elsewhere, and it'due south also articulate from looking at the massive disparity between the two reviews yous've left for Fri night and literally every other review we received for that show, that absolutely nothing we did was going to please y'all."
Things seem to begin rather courteously but things start to heat up somewhat when the owner gives Michael some tips for understanding jokes.
"You seem to have forgotten how our staff managed to suit you sitting with your social bubble, despite non booking equally such, "per the guidelines on our website," the reply continues.
"We're sorry that yous didn't understand any of the jokes on Friday night, just here's a tip for you lot: When the rest of the audience are laughing, then the likelihood is, that a joke just happened. "
Cutting indeed but the owner wasn't yet finished, taking umbrage with Michael's accusations that the comedians just mocked the audition throughout the entire show.
They said: "When you state that the comedians "merely took the Michael out of the crowd", we assume you're talking about the one man on the front row, who was repeatedly heckling.
"He was the only person who received whatever type of "Michael taking".
"For your information; if someone heckles the compere, they're going to lose and not merely will they accept their Michael taken away, but it'll also be stamped on and thrown into the sea.
"This is literally the oldest and most well known unwritten rule of comedy clubs."
Burdensome stuff. But the owner all the same wasn't done and had a bit more to say regarding Michael'due south more serious claims that the society had non kept to social distancing guidelines during the show.
The owner even accused Michael of breaking the law himself considering he patently refused to wear a face up mask inside the club.
The owner said: "Regards being "crammed in similar cattle"... You lot didn't raise this concern with any members of staff, any and yous completely ignored the law, which states yous must wear your mask at all times on our premises, by removing it, equally soon as you saturday downward.
"Then, unless leaving awful reviews protects those around yous from Coronavirus, we can't understand why someone and so genuinely concerned, would remove their mask, peculiarly because yous'd not bought a beverage at that betoken.
"We spent the three weeks, earlier we were allowed to reopen, ensuring nosotros comply with and aim to exceed all Coronavirus laws and guidelines."
At this indicate Michael's review is in shreds, he'southward on the ropes but the One-act Station owner still has ane last put downward.
"Finally, we're extremely surprised to learn that you deem our venue "grubby", considering nosotros've been closed for vi months and in that time, had a total refurb of the bar and theatre.
"Furthermore, all public areas are deep cleaned and sanitised, between shows, and so it tin't possibly have been "grubby" prior to opening.
"Stay happy!"
